Summertime and collective action:

Proposal for a DIRECTIVE OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL discontinuing seasonal changes of time and repealing Directive 2000/84/EC

The existing EU legislation does not mandate summertime in member states, it only harmonizes the summertime period.

In a Commission consultation 84 % out of 4.6 million EU citizens (the largest amount of responses ever received in any Commission consultation) were in favor of abolishing the switch between standard time and summertime.

It's a collective action problem.
